By Marzia Svaluto

Fifth day 29th July: Parco Kruger (lodge Olifants) km 135
Woke up at 4.30 for the morning drive organized by the lodge, and we saw a beautiful lioness! Came back to the lodge for breakfast and then to lodge Letaba. We saw crocodiles, a group of elephants during their bath and a group of waterbuck. We enjoyed the sunset hearing the hippopotamus!

Sixth day 30th July: Parco Kruger (lodge Olifants-lodge Punda Maria) km 244
Breakfast at 7.00 and departure to Punda Maria. The north part of the park is really charming, the landscape changes, the earth is red and rich in baobab, we saw buffalo, nyala, two male kudu and a big martial eagle (black body and white claws). Punda Maria is a really charming outpost where we had a very good dinner!

Seventh day 31st July: Punda Maria-Louis Trichardt (Machado) km 416
During the last tour in Kruger park we saw impala and a lot of bushbuck, then we went from Pafuri Gate and we were in the province of Limpopo.
We took R525 and then N1 to Louis Trichardt. We passed through the beautiful mountains of Soutpanberg and the pass was a really nice place. Before reaching our b&b we visited the Levubu valley with its banana plantations. After that we went Lokovela Mountain Lodge lokovhelaml@mweb.co.za, the rooms are well furnished characteristic rondavels. Dinner in a fantastic living room with fireplace.

Eighth day 1st August: Machado-Sabie km 432
After breakfast departure to Sabie following the road parallel to the one we took a few days ago, first R36 to Lydenburg and than R37 to Long Tom Pass where you can see a beautiful view. Stopped to see Mac Mac falls. We slept in a B&B run by an very nice italo-southafrican couple. stayover@wayfarers.co.za www.wayfarers.co.za

Ninth day 2nd August: Sabie-Malkerns (Swaziland) km 283
Departure from Sabie to Malkerns in Swaziland. We got to the border and we were proud for our visa on our passports! The landscape is beautiful with unforgettable view points. We stoped at a craft center with a panoramic view where you can eat something. We stopped at Mbabane the capital, there was nothing special there but we were attracted by the crowded bus station. We stopped at a market where the people were kind. We went to Umdoni gilbert@africaonline.co.sz, the farm where we slept. It’s surrounded by pineapples which we ate for breakfast. The rooms are in cottage just for 4 people with a nice living room.
We had a very good dinner at Maladela restaurant suggested by the farm owner, who was the only black owner that we meet during our travels.

Tenth day 3rd August: Malkerns-Santa Lucia km 435
We had our rich breakfast in the living room.
Departure to candle factory. It wasworth a visit for its huge variety!
Departure to St.Lucia, stop during the road, the landscape is more beautiful compared the day before. Return to South Africa in the Kwa Zulu Natal region! We reached St.Lucia (N2) and the Bhangazi lodge bhangazi@digitalsky.co.za www.bhangazi-lodge.com, kitsch but nice and managed by German people who give us a lot of information about the area. Before dinner we had time for a walk in the forest near the river.
Dinner at Quarterdeck, fish was very good with generous portions.
